ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Senior level test engineer to design, develop, and run file system and storage management tests for our flagship product, StorNext.  Duties include developing and performing system configuration (hardware and software), functional and system-level testing on a variety of platforms, and test automation.  Specifically needed to test the HSM Shared file system, various components of the I/O system, and performance testing.

Develop and execute test plans to ensure platform and configuration level control across all system releases.  Work closely with the Engineering group and the Sustaining organization to document, diagnose, and correct problems.

Our customer base is highly technical and performance-oriented utilizing a variety of servers on an advanced shared file system and an advanced heiarchical storage system capable of storing upwards of petabytes of data.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

-   Excellent verbal and written communications. Must be able to communicate effectively with engineering and sustaining organizations.  Must have effective writing skills to create test plans and document test status.

- Extreme focus on test automation and test development.

- As a senior member of the testing team, be able to investigate, promote, and implement alternative test methodologies.  Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.  May also be called on to help mentor junior members of the team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Candidates must have a strong engineering testing background in high end storage and/or shared or parallel file systems.  They must also have Heirarchical Storage Management (HSM) experience.  Must have 5 years of testing experience with 2+ years on high-performance systems.

Technical requirements include:

-  Solaris, Windows, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, IRIX 

-  C, Perl, Python, Tcl/Tk, Expect, Unix scripting languages

-  Test Automation experience a must

-  Web or Wiki development

-  System Administration experience

-  Performance Testing experience

-  Source Code Management (CVS, Subversion, others)

-  SAN, Fiber Channel, SCSI, ISCSI, APIs, Ethernet, Raid, Tape Systems

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

File systems, device drives, Fibre Channel, SAN environments, HSM environments, and network administration.  Horizontal scaling file system expertise, high performance I/O, Experience with shared file systems and parallel file systems.

Test Automation tools experience (IBM Rational, Compuware, WinRunner, etc)

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION:  BS/MS in CS, EE or CE

FIELD OF STUDY: Computer Science

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:  8+
