As the Manager of Software Engineering - StorNext, you will be responsible for wide ranging facets of the software development process serving the dynamic, fast-paced, and expanding storage management software market.  Primary responsibilities include technical management and leadership of an exceptional team of software engineers, project planning, delivery and execution of StorNext software products.  The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience in both development and testing of file system and Hierarchical Storage Management software.

Detailed job responsibilities include:

-  Responsible for management of StorNext software engineering.

-  Work with program managers and other engineering managers to create detailed project schedules and execute engineering programs to the set schedule while achieving the defined scope and exceptional quality.

-  Utilize technical, project management, and people management experience to provide technical direction and drive execution of programs.

-  Responsible for staffing, budgeting and managing expenses within an approved operating plan.

-  Keeps updated on recent technical advances and applies industry knowledge to Quantum products and processes.

-  Takes an innovative approach to problem solving and leads efforts to develop new approaches.

-  Identifies risks and understands how to manage them in order to avoid product delays and shortcomings.

-  Ability to evaluate a proposed design and appreciate its system-wide implications and consequences.

-  Actively contributes to cross functional team effectiveness.

-  A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in storage software or a related industry.

-  A minimum of 5 years of people management experience and 10 years of technical experience in software engineering, ideally both development and testing.

-  Proven experience taking several different products through the entire software product lifecycle achieving excellence in schedule, scope, and quality commitments.

-  Proven success in the understanding of, and capability in, the technical, architectural and leadership responsibilities involved in driving a medium sized project.

-  Proven ability to evaluate a proposed design and appreciate its system-wide implications and consequences. 

-  BS in Computer Science or equivalent discipline is required.
